Dr. Robert Preece is a research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Dept. of Physics, working in the field of gamma-ray astronomy. I am part of the spectroscopy team for the Burst and Transient Source Experiment (BATSE) on NASA's Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory, based at the Marshall Space Flight Center's Space Science Laboratory. (You will be tested on this later.) My main research interest revolves around the enigmatic astrophysical phenomenon known as gamma-ray bursts, one of which is imaged above. In my transition from theory to data analysis, I helped develop the group's prime spectroscopy analysis tool, WINGSPAN.
