Preliminary Light Curves

The BATSE Mission Operations (MOPS) flux histories are generated in the 20-100 keV energy band for selected sources over the past 6 months. Please note that these data are preliminary. CGRO/BATSE archival data can be found at the Compton Observatory Science Support Center.

The BATSE Bright Source Reports are available. These indicate the brightest sources as seen by BATSE only, but occasionally include sources for which light curves are not found at this web site.

Even though some screening is performed of the MOPS histories, there is no determination of systematic errors. Single day averages of the source intensity significantly away from the trend of nearby days should be viewed as suspicious. The same is true for apparent 52-day periods that can appear in the data for two or more cycles. The cyclic behavior in some flux histories is caused by the effect of spacecraft orbital precession on the daily flux analysis. Sometimes the behavior can be removed in the archival histories.
